The Best Tanning Beds Print E-mail
Sunday, 10 September 2006
Tanning beds are used for indoor sunless tanning. You might not have heard about them before, and if you have you might not be aware that not all tanning beds are good. The best tanning beds are the ones which cause a uniform tan throughout your body and they are not harmful for the skin. Let’s find out some more about tanning beds so that when you go for buying one for your house you won’t have any difficulty choosing the best one. First of all you need to know that although tanning beds provide a perfect alternative for sun-tanning, they are not altogether harmless. Some people use them for escaping from the dangers of exposing too much to the ultraviolet rays of the sun. But you must keep in mind that apart from the advantages of tanning beds there are some disadvantages as well. And because it’s about your skin you need to be extremely cautious while buying a tanning bed.

Short-wave UV rays as emitted by the sun can cause more burns and skin itching than long-wave UV rays as produced by tanning beds. However, you need to remember that short-wave rays are harmless as long as you do not expose your body to them for long periods. So the first thing to consider is the intensity of light. A tanning bed that is merely a tanning lamp is the best for your skin. These lamps emit sun-like rays so you don’t need to worry about the after-effects of using a tanning bed, like skin diseases and even cancer. Also, never consider buying a bed that produces a combination of short-wave and long-wave UV rays.

Shape of a tanning bed is also important in determining whether it would bring about a good and uniform tan or not. Vertical tanning beds are by far better than other shapes available. You won’t need to lie down in a horizontal bed-like tanning bench in which you might feel suffocated after a while. Vertical tanning beds also provide best tanning results.

If you are doubtful of using tanning beds that emit harmful UV rays you can consider buying a UV-free tanning booth. It’s very easy to use and provides a tan that lasts for more than a week.
